Chuck. Great man. Great friend. I surely did love you and Betzi and all fur babies. You will be missed for so many of your great qualities. Betzi lease reach out with anything you need. I value you and our friendship.
We were so sad to hear the news! We are heart broken for the people who love and cherish him. He was always SO great to work with. He will truly, truly be missed. Our most sincere blessings to his family.
My apologies if this gets posted twice (didn’t find the 1st one I published).
I was so saddened to hear this news about our friend, Chuck. My heart breaks for you, Betsi. Chuck did my taxes for years. He was so easy to work with. He was really good at explaining difficult concepts in simple layman terms and pretty efficient too.
He had a great sense of humor! He loved his Hawaiian shirts (on any season) at work or when you run across him on an event. He had a lively personality - I used to work with the Sheriff’s Office and he shared some stories when he was involved in the Law Enforcement industry. It was always entertaining to listen to his stories. He was so excited to retire and was looking forward to have plenty of free time with Betzi and their puppies. Betzi, I wish you peace and plenty of love in this time of sadness.
The world lost an amazing man far too soon. Take care and God bless.
The world has lost an amazing man. We always looked forward to seeing Chuck each year. His love for, and devotion to, Betzi was without doubt a standout memory, along with barbecue and his fur babies.
Our sincere condolences to Betzi, Emily and Lyn, as well as to everyone who called him friend.
OMG Betzi, I’m so sorry, so sad… I’d hoped to visit you two next month… later.Chuck and Betzi saved me SO much grief almost 20 years ago when my father died leaving my stroke compromised stepmother without paperwork completed. They were incredible friends and allies for years, getting a trust created, teaching me how to become an effective Trustee and deal with difficult family members. Their support and humor were always available and so appreciated! Before I moved to WA Betzi created a Trust for me and Chuck continued as my “tax guy,“ remaining so until Emily took over. His kindness and zany humor will be missed. I’m so grateful to have known him.
My heart is so heavy at the news of his passing. Loved working with him over the many years. Missed him greatly when he retired as there is no one like Chuck. His quick wit, his knowledge of tax law, his sharing of fine wine, he and Betzi's furry "kids", and of course the cookies. He was a really good man. Still can't believe this is real. Betzi, we send our love and our prayers to you. Sincerely, Janene & Mike Bello
This morning I was notified of the passing of retired Detective II Charles D. (Chuck) Hart, Serial No. 20145, class of July 1973. Chuck died of an apparent heart attack on May 23, 2023, in Grass Valley California. He passed while watering his Bonsai trees, a hobby and love of his for the past several years.
Chuck has been my best friend since childhood. Chuck's father was retired from the job. Chuck and I were so close we called each other's mother mom. We saw each other almost every day. As teenagers, our big hobbies were riding motorcycles, buying and re-building crashed police Harleys at auction, shooting, and photography - developing and printing our black and white photographs.
After I returned home from Viet Nam, Chuck talked me into becoming a Student Worker, then coming on the job. We worked together for a short time at Devonshire Division in patrol, then again a short time when I was loaned to Vice. We always stayed close over the years.
Chuck had to retire early due to an injury. He and his wife Betzi, a City Attorney, retired to Grass Valley, where he became an enrolled agent and Betzi opened a law office handling will and trust cases. They were both very successful, trusted, and well known in the Grass Valley community. They both retired a couple of years ago, but Chuck still helped the new owner of the income business he sold with complex returns. Chuck and Betzi were (and Betzi will continue) helping a non-profit in Grass Valley called the Northstar House.
I will miss my best friend dearly, as all of you would miss yours.
We are so sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. It was a shock to both Chris and me. He was a very kind soul and a great tax accountant for us. He will be sorely missed! My condolences to his wife and furry friends. Rest in peace, Chuck! ❤️
So sorry to hear this. Chuck was our trusted tax guy for years.. He’d always laugh when my mom would show up at tax time with a grocery bag full of gambling receipts from about 10 different casino’s. It was challenging, he’d say, and he loved the challenge. Lol. So sorry for your loss Betsy. May he rest in peace.
So sad to hear this news. Our thoughts & prayers are with Betsy & her fur babies. I always loved meeting with Chuck even though it was for taxes. Such a nice person & always so patient!
I am so sorry and shocked to hear about Chuck passing. While we hadn't seen each other the past few years I still thought of him as a friend. Always gave the best advice. Great Man. So sad.
This news is heartbreaking. Chuck was so special in so many ways, but he will always hold an extra special place in our hearts since we were lucky enough to have him officiate our wedding. He always remembered our wedding date and would send little notes. He touched so many lives in so many ways, he will be deeply missed by so many.
I am so sorry to hear of Chuck's passing. He was a wonderful person and I always enjoyed working with him. I am grateful to have learn some key things about the tax field from Chuck and have his help over the years. He will surely be missed! Sending lots of care to Chuck's family during this difficult time💜 Thank you, Emily, for providing this page💜
We will miss so many things about you, Chuck. Loved your dry sense of humor and your way of making us feel calm and relaxed even though we were in your office to talk about taxes. You never made us feel rushed and were a good listener. It was sad when you retired, now even sadder.
It's nice that Emily is carrying on your tradition of the Girl Scout Cookies. It always makes us think of you and Betzi.
The best thing of all are the pictures and the memories we have of you Presiding over the marriage of our daughter Wendy and husband Lee.
So sorry and , yes shocked.. He was such a wonderful warm person and was my go to tax person for years.. I so looked forward to our get together each year.... and of course the Girl Scout cookies.. Miss you Chuck. Betsy, know there is a whole world of people sending love and hugs.🥰 Robin Denegri

One more thing, speaking of Hawaiian shirts....I think he wore those to make us feel like we were on the beach, doing our taxes ❤️ we love you Chuck
